The product is called Chipolo. The clever gadget hasn’t hit the market as of yet, but it is about to. So what is it???
If your dog is within approximately 200 feet, the Chipolo will be able to locate him. It is very small and it comes in very pretty colors.
I wish my neighbor Lauren had such a gadget years ago. She had a dog named Sadie who was born deaf. She and Sadie lived in a 450 square foot studio apartment so finding one another was easy. After her job promotion, Lauren was excited to move to a bigger home. Her new space was a 3,000 square foot home in the suburbs.
Sadie acclimated very well and was able to learn the layout of her new environment within a short amount of time. Life was great except for one thing. However, there was more room for Sadie to roam and finding her became a huge challenge. Let’s face it, you can’t call a deaf dog and expect her to come running.
The Chipolo can locate a dog who is within around 200 feet. Sadie had quite a few favorite places to hang out. Lauren would have loved to be able to step into the hallway and be able to scope such a large amount of space without having to explore every nook and cranny.
The Chipolo works through certain Bluetooth-enabled Android and iOS smartphone devices with an app. The device can be attached to the dog’s collar along with his tags. It is even small and light enough for the smallest of dogs. It is expected to be on the market some time in December 2013. The cost of this gadget is expected to be at $34.
