Have you ever wished that you could have a dog that looks similar to the one you grew up with? How about getting a new pet after your beloved pet has gone to doggie heaven? How about when you see a dog on the street or in a picture, have you ever said to yourself, “I would love to have a dog just like that one?” People talk about cloning dogs, but I think it is unwise to mess around so much with mother nature.
Pet tech is constantly evolving. There is a brand new app called, PetMatch by Superfish. It has the capability to match a pic of a dog to other dogs that are similar in appearance that are available for adoption. The app just came out this month. The technology used for this app is called Superfish which uses algorithms the way an ordinary search engine would, but rather than searching using text tags, it searches by pics.
All you have to do is submit a pic using the app and then a search is performed to find dogs that are similar in appearance that are available for adoption. If you don’t have a pic, you can search the net. There are so many pets available on PetFinder which is a pet adoption search engine site. You can use pics from that website or any other website. Remember that you might not find an exact match, but the technology can pull up pretty good approximations. Once the app finds a close match, the next step is to meet the dog and see if the dog’s disposition is to your liking. It is an excellent alternative to getting a puppy. We all know that just because you get the same breed, there are so many variations that become more obvious as the puppy gets older. I have ALWAYS adopted my dogs. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This app has been discussed on many websites like CNN, PC Mag, and many others. It requires iOS 7.0 or later. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. I LOVE the concept of this app! Oh… I almost forgot to mention that the app is free.
